"34 listings. $168,000 a year. Zero inventory, zero shipping, zero overhead."
Full Story
The product catalogue is 34 items. Budget trackers, expense planners, savings goal templates, life admin spreadsheets — clean, minimal designs built in Google Sheets and Excel, priced between $8 and $14. When a buyer pays, they receive a download link. That's the entire fulfilment process.
Jren opened the Etsy shop in March 2023 and focused entirely on SEO from day one. Every listing title, tag, and description was researched using Etsy's own search data to identify exactly what buyers were searching for. The shop didn't rely on Etsy Ads — it was built to rank organically for high-intent search terms.
The economics of digital products on Etsy are fundamentally different from physical goods. There's no cost of goods, no shipping, no inventory risk, no returns to process. Once a design is created, it sells indefinitely at near-100% margin. The only ongoing cost is Etsy's transaction fee and listing renewal — a few cents per sale.
By the end of the first year, the shop was generating roughly $14,000 per month — approximately $168,000 annualised — from 34 listings. Jren has expanded the design catalogue cautiously, prioritising quality over quantity. The shop's strong review score and organic Etsy ranking continue to compound month on month without paid advertising.
" I designed these spreadsheets for myself first. When I put them on Etsy I had no idea what would happen. Now I make $14,000 a month selling a file that took me an afternoon to create.
